  1. Hahaha, this made me laugh. Believe it or not, we aren't the same person and don't even know each other. Just an awesome community here on the KSP forums!
  2. Thank Wolfos... totally worked. I feel like a moron now. I mean, in the earlier versions I was able to get away with being lazy on the first few launches and just go straight up, lol. Cheers man, thanks!
  3. Hello everyone. I feel like a total noob and I've been playing KSP since 0.24. I started a new career and like my second mission I'm shooting Jeb up out of the atmo to about 70-80k. Coming straight back down I've killed that poor ....... like 10 times today. The craft won't slow down enough for me to deploy my chutes. They just get burned up or ripped off because the standard Mk1 Command Pod + Parachute + Heat Shield won't slow down under 300km/s before slamming into the ground. How the hell am I supposed to fix this? I tried throwing a small solid rocket booster underneath to slow it down but that seems ........ to have to do. Am I missing something?
  4. They are totally rivals in my career mode... each vying for the next "Kerbal First" accomplishments... Valentina - First out of Atmo First on Mun (but had to be rescued) First to leave Kerbin SOI Jeb - First in Orbit First on Minmus First rescue mission (rescuing Val on the Mun) First to land on both Mun and Minmus in one mission They are currently in a very heated battle to see who will be the first Kerbal to have the very coveted "first" of setting foot on an alien planet! hahaha... this game is great.
  5. Nah, nothing needs a heat shield. Test it. It's broken. I'm not advocating for 1.0 aero... but, 1.0.2 is too tweaked in the .90 direction. We need a happy medium in between 1.0 and 1.0.2
  6. I think you misunderstand what terminal velocity means. It is simply the speed at which a free falling object will no longer accelerate. But if you strap a jet engine to the back of that object, then it will accelerate for sure. So... no, this is bad. Also, everyone here is saying that 1.0.2 is great and awesome and perfect. Well, it is great and awesome, but have you guys tried hitting the atmo at 3.5k m/s with no heat shield? Well, you should try it... because, you'll be perfectly fine. Heatsheilds are completely useless now. You do not need them. There is no risk of burning up on reentry. So... for me, that's a pretty big broken feature that was just added in 1.0 a few days ago. I wish they'd find a happy medium between the aero in 1.0 and 1.0.2. They tried to make space planes feasible but ended up breaking a simple rule of burning up on re-entry, which is more important in my opinion.
  7. Here's the gallery showing the Launch Vehicle and the rover on the Mun. http://imgur.com/a/RokBk/
  8. Done. I removed the chip (which was a difficult process in itself as I had it hidden very well hahaha... was sort of fun tearing the vehicle apart to try and find it again.) Anyway. The Kerbal Engineer chip has been removed and it is 100% stock as advertised! Thanks for the heads up on that one guys. The file has been updated on the Kerbal SpacePort link and you should have no problems loading it as is. Cheers!
  9. Oh crap you're totally right... I'll fix that this afternoon. Thanks for the heads up.
  10. Hahaha, well, good point. I'd say if you're getting too low to be able to flip yourself, maybe that's when you stop and do a refueling mission lol.
  11. I'd like to introduce myself with this post. I am Soul and I've started a Kerbal Design Firm called Puma Design. This is our first vehicle and I'd love any feedback. We've tested it extensively on the Mun and would love to see and hear of any of your adventures with it on other planets/moons. The .craft file comes with the Rover and a Launch Vehicle that'll get it to the Mun, but feel free to modify it to go beyond! Anwyay, I present the Leandros R-2. 12. A common problem is that rovers flip to easily in low-G environments. People have also said that they run out of power too quickly to explore for long durations on the dark side of a planet or moon. Enter the Leandros R-2. This is the second iteration of the Leandros Rover and is a very heavy duty exploration vehicle. It's built very wide so as to avoid flipping in most situations, but even if you do manage to flip it, we've got 8 Rockomax 24-77 engines to flip it back topside. They can fire on either the right or left side in case you find yourself in a difficult situation. Everything is rugged and incredibly protected, included the Kerbal drivers. If it flips, you won't have to worry about breaking anything like solar panel housings, lights, batteries, fuel tanks or anything else. All of the essential hardware required to operate the Leandros R-2 is protected by plating and girder segments. The one downside is that you need fuel to be able to flip yourself back over. However, we've added a Clamp-O-Tron Jr. docking port to the top of the rover to enable refueling missions. (Refueling vehicle still in development stage). The Leandros R-2 is a heavy duty rover built for serious explorers. All stock parts. Allows for 2 Kerbals. Check out the full album here. http://imgur.com/a/RokBk#hwPbNvs
