Welcome to the forums! I also lurked for a long time before posting for the first time haha. As you can see from my post count I still mainly just lurk lol. My first post was an epic kethane mining colony on Minmus, something I'm still pretty proud of today. Congrats on the Mun landing! I remember the first time I landed on the Mun. I failed miserably several times before finally figuring out how to kill my horizontal velocity, and probably only after watching some Scott Manley videos.

This is an example of how NOT to reply. Condescending, accusatory, and down right rude. This is an example of how one should reply. Polite, thankful, courteous, and helpful.

This is a pretty cool plane. Overly complicated. I like overly complicated!

This would technically be fine for now, but what will we do if Squad ever adds more than the current solar system? Would we always just refer to the "Sun in ____olar System"? I think having a unique name for the Sun would be best. Also, I realize that using Sol is a misconception, but I think its a popular enough misconception that we could roll with it. I know of at least 2 other video games that refer to our solar system (the one containing the real Earth) as Sol, basing it off of that being the name of the Sun. Spore, and EVE Online are the 2 games I speak of.

I personally like Kerbolar System best, but I could see how you may be right. Perhaps others will give their opinion as well. As for the Kerm- versions you use, Kerman is being used as a Proper name in-game by the Kerbals. That would be the equivalent of your name being Robje Human. I don't think that seems correct. I do however like the word Kermanity, so I am a little torn on the the use of Kerm- as a base. Lets see what some others think.

I'm not sure if anyone has posted something like this before, but my searches didn't turn up quite what I was looking for. I've noticed we have a lot of terms that we use that start with Kerb-, and as such I see lots of people use the wrong term to describe what they are talking about. Example: People calling the home planet Kerbal. I thought perhaps we could create an official list to educate the masses. Here are the terms I know (or think I know). If you know any more, or know of a correction, please let me know. Kerbal = The little green guys we have come to love. Kerbalnaut is acceptable as well. (Kerman, Kermen being debated) Kerbin = The home planet of Kerbals, and also the analog of Earth. Kerbol = The sun that is at the center of the solar system. Kerbal Solar System and Kerbolar Solar System are being debated Kerbal Galaxy = ????? Kerbal Universe = ????? Kermanity = Analog to Humanity? Hopefully this will help educate people on the proper term to use in their posts and lessen the confusion by some readers who are not quite sure what the poster is talking about.

I played the demo for all of 20 minutes before I purchased the full game from Steam. It has been the best video game purchase I have made in probably 4+ years. I purchased in May of this year and currently have 325 hours logged according to Steam. You will not regret your purchase.

While it would be extremely difficult to perform, I am sure it is quite possible. Also, unless you got the perfect transfer location, the delta V required to do a single LKO to Duna burn would probably be considerably larger. If I am wrong someone please feel free to correct me.

The latest Space-X Grasshopper rocket test had a little bit of unexpected comedy relief. http://www.space.com/22712-stampede-spacex-s-grasshopper-startles-cows-video.html I think it would be pretty hilarious to have some herds of animals in KSP for Jeb to annoy with some fly-by's and minor (major) explosions

This is just silly. Would it have been a valid question to ask "Where will you send the Mk-1 Capsule first?". Exactly. It's a perfectly valid question, just as is TC's question. Just because the part may only have 1 (or a few) physical functions it performs, players will none the less come up with creative ways of using it/them, just as they have with every other part in KSP. As for what I will be doing with the science bay... I have a feeling I am going to be spending most of my time making sure Jeb hasn't decided to stow away in the science module and then highjack the mission once they get in orbit. Or perhaps he wants to take part in the radiation exposure tests. You know, because he's Jeb and for whatever reason that makes perfect sense for something he would do.

What do you think about new KSP 0.22 preview viido?

I'm so excited for this update. I check the main page religiously as soon as I get home from work every day just waiting for that news bulletin. -
Awesome video! Would highly recommend and watch again!

It's nice to see I'm not the only paranoid/sentimental one around here People mentioning keeping their beloved Kerbals close to home inspired me to do something a bit more creative. It would seem as if Jeb has taken up a part time job as teacher/mentor for the young recruits at the recruitment center. I managed to capture these photos of him while he was giving a lecture at an outdoor learning facility. Check it out.

I am curious how many other people do something similar to what I do with Jeb, Bill and Bob to ensure that I don't accidentally kill them in some hair-brained scheme Jeb whispered in my ear. On a new save the first thing I do is make a space station and then put Jeb, Bill and Bob on it for safe keeping. Anyone else go out of their way to keep them safe?

According to Steam, 279 hours (plus about 15 more minutes spent on the demo before realizing I had to buy this game). And that's just from May 2013, when I first head about KSP. I also hold down a full time job if you can believe that. I'm also new to the forums, I just registered Sunday. This is my second post! I've spent my KSP time doing many things, but most of it leads back to trying to build complicated missions and making them succeed. I will leave you with a gallery of my first colony since upgrading to 0.21.1. (It's also my first Minmus colony, having done the Mun and Duna in the past) I shared this in the "What did you do today" thread, but it seems appropriate here too. Some mission statistics Part estimation: ~2,000 (the lag was terrible) Number of Crafts: 15 Approximate total hours spent: 30 Craft List 2 X hover craft 2 X small refinery pods 1 rover 1 habitat (with 4 escape pods) 1 large refinery hub 2 X interplanetary engines 1 satellite 1 skycrane EDIT: The gallery link isn't working for some reason. You can click on the album and view it here http://stevop80.imgur.com/

Today (this weekend really) I registered on the KSP website. Hello Folks! First Post! I've been a lurker and a player since May 2013 but just now registered. Also, today (this weekend) I finally got to see my weeks worth of planning come to fruition when I launched my first colony mission since updating to 0.21.1. First a little background. The mission was originally going to go to Duna, but upon doing some entry and landing tests I discovered that some of the equipment just didn't have what it takes to successfully land on a planet with too much gravity for having very little atmosphere. Everrything worked like a charm however for low gravity locations, or places with proper atmospheres and decent amounts of gravity (Minmus, Eve). So I decided to set up the colony on Minmus. At least if something went wrong a rescue mission would be relatively short. So I set about this last week designing several "ships" or modules that would be part of this colony mission. These modules would be launched to orbit around Kerbin individually, then docked together to form a couple of "super ships" that would then travel to Minmus, where it would separate and modules would then be landed on the surface one at a time. I would have the capability to mine Kethane, and convert it to various fuels. I would have 3 Kerbalnauts, who would take turns driving the mining rover while the other 2 would do science-y things or goof off on the hovercrafts(!!!!). I planned (in my opinion) some cool stuff, and finally got to launch it all. And now here I am to share it with you. I hope you enjoy. Lengthy imgur album follows. Many images have better descriptions of the equipment and its purpose in the mission. Feedback is welcome and appreciated.
