  1. The craft was designed to have the engines be adjustable in thrust to account for the uneven distribution of weight from the asteroid. This is why there are four groups of engines, arranged perpendicularly. If the asteroid is heavier on the right, I can limit the thrust of engines on the left. same goes for front/backward. I only did not take into account two things: - once we drop the asteroid, it would be nice to revert to a setting of even thrusting! (solution might be to use an action group to shutdown the adjustable/appropriate engines) - different thrusts consume different amounts of fuel, and there are fuel deposits above the engines that do not feed other deposits to make a god weight distribution once the top (main) deposits have drained.. (solution might be to place fuel deposits above the quad-adapters, or to use fuel lines)
  2. Bill, Bob and a probe went on asteroid-catching.. The probe brought a class C asteroid safely into Kerbin orbit. Then it ran out of fuel.. So Bob went up there, with a larger craft intended to "pull asteroids", but it was discovered that most engines were pointing towards the asteroid, thus not generating enough effective thrust for "landing"... But he managed to take the asteroid into Mun orbit! So later, Bill went up there with an even larger craft to attempt playing a game with the asteroid! He grabbed the asteroid and scored a goal on the Mun! Take a look at the video: unfortunately, after dropping the asteroid, the ship became unstable and he crashed... But I saved the game before, so I can have fun again and again!
  3. WPFC - Wacky Perpatual Flight Craft The other day I was a bit bored, so I built a plane!.. A special one! The idea behind it would be to fly slowly to admire the view, and possibly even to land (like a plane) on top of the VAB! Sounds like a crazy idea, excellent for when you're bored! So I built it like a sailplane paying close attention to the center of mass.. I bent the winds just for style and for the landing gear to touch the ground before the plane... The extraordinary part, however, is that this plane does not need engine power to fly! (Jet engine and fuel are only included for compatibility to other aircraft by pilot demand). Perhaps due to some strange Koriolis force, the plane starts moving on the runway, and as it reaches 22 m/s it can already start flying! Further investigation on this perpetual motion craft revealed that it can accelerate by pitching down & up, and that rolling left/right also accelerates! This makes the plane hard to slowdown in flight, and that is the reason for the parachutes.. It is still unclear why it was designed with landing gear attached to decouplers... So please avoid pushing random buttons by chance inside the cockpit!
  4. Depends on the defenition of "Lost"!.. None of mine died yet (because I managed to revert flights back to the assembly stage) However, I have all three Kerbals in space right now, in orbit of Mun, with little fuel, and no save way to re-enter Kerbin!! (no parachute on the ship). This means they will die or stay there if I do not launch a rescue mission!!
  5. Hello, I am Fil! Yesterday I managed to get into orbit. Today I have three kerballs in orbit around the Mun! All thanks to wonderful tutorials on youtube! My problem now is I have the three kerballs in orbit around the Mun, and would like to bring them back! I doubt the ccraft I built can resist re-entry.. (There is no parachute!) or dock anywhere... (ain't I an excellent engineer to forget these "details"?) How should I proceed? I would like not to leave space junk around the Mun, as well.. Should I build a spaceship with three vacant seats to accept the kerballs, the kerbals then go on an EVA (Extra-Vehicular Activity) to the new spacecraft, that hopefully will be able to survive re-entry? Should I build a spaceship that can grab and holdon to space junk, and plunges into the Mun, (thus removing the space junk) Is it harder to get back from the Mun, than to get there? How do I come back from the Mun? Is there a better place on this forum to ask these questions? Thanks!
