Thanks for the fast response! One other thing I'm noticing. I was under the impression that the nuclear rockets would use the powerplant to fuel their thrust, however right now if I 'switch propellant' I have two options; liquid fuel and LFO. There's no thermal only option. Is this by design as well?

Awesome idea. I have two questions I haven't been able to answer on my own or figure out by reading this thread. 1) are research points specific to the ship or are they civilization wide? 2) if I connect the thermal rock directly to the nuclear powerplant I get a thrust of 68, if I put an electric generator between the two I get a thrust of of 500. Same isp in both scenarios. Is this intentional?
