Aerobraking
UnthinkableThinker replied to DuartePires's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
For aerobraking, all you need is to set your periapsis to an altitude that the atmosphere starts to kick in and reduces your speed. What I do is I set my periapsis to 24km (For Kerbin), which gives me plenty of aerobraking, for small or large vessels. -
For those of you who believe that there is intelligent life out there and that they come here to Earth every so often, here is a website that has recently published disclosed UFO files (which may be or not ET craft) by the USAF: http://projectbluebook.theblackvault.com/ Enjoy!

Ah, yes, there's always something to my Duna trips, something eventually goes wrong, haha. Thanks for the tips though. -
Vessel construction mishap

Yeah, I've left them on full throttle until they ran out of fuel. I am using quicksaves, thankfully, I will try your tactic armagheddonsgw. Thanks for the help guys. -
Vessel construction mishap
UnthinkableThinker replied to UnthinkableThinker's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Ok, so I have tried jettisoning them with no success, the fairings and docking ports remain in the same place. I have also tried throttling up to max to try an explosion due to overheating but no luck. The engines DO work, fuel gets consumed and all but there is no thrust. Docking a new cluster of engines seems like a fix, but I won't be able to land it, since it will touch the ground first, most likely blowing it up. I am seriously considering the ramming of something. -

Ah, sorry, yes, indeed they are engines with docking ports attached TO the engines! I will try a better photo. Edit: I hope it's been made clearer -
Hi guys, I need help on the follow mishap when I was constructing my vessel: I've tried things like, landing on top of it resulting in blowing everything up including the engine and smashing my Kerbal on it (poor Bob). I need suggestions on how to get this thing out of the way so I can return to the mothership in orbit!

Sure, you can strap on SRBs to stop a car, but what about the people inside the car itself? Inertia. Airbags, bumpers, all are made to increase the time of the contact, that's what keeps the passengers alive (or at least tries to) inside the car during a collision. I believe the best way to avoid crashes, especially high speed crashes such as in highways, are what I call "Intelligent highways", and they must work along cars, to detect a recent collision and once the car is located in that radius (let's say a 1km radius), the system fires and reduces the speed of all of the cars in that area, very similar to the Yellow Flag we see on races, except this will all be done through computer systems and automatically, so basically the car will slow itself down, whether the driver wants it or not.

Yeah, I go against all environmental law, if there is any in Kerbin, I tend to leave everything just floating around so perhaps one day I'll crash into something or get that cold chill on my spine when passing really near a piece of debris.

Nasa's SpotTheStation

Oh, long duration pictures, interesting. Thanks for the answer. Like I've said before, I will try to get an ISS pass-by on video then I'll post it here, hopefully. -

What is that trace in the sky? On my 2 ISS sightings I don't see it and I've noticed you and PakledHostage both have pictures of it with a trace. -

Nice pictures, I am also planning to get it on film. Well, yes, Stellarium is a really good engine, though you'll have to fast-forward it everytime hoping the ISS appears, though everything is valid -

Unless you got something to hide from them, the information you have to disclose is minimal in comparison to all the benefits you get from actually seeing the ISS, though that is only my opinion and I don't want to turn this into a discussion.
