  1. Thanks for everybody's posts. I agree that the RGB is probably a good interim solution, but I'm wondering if this isn't something that might be a good little add-on to an existing mod (like the aforementioned Tweakable Everything, I guess). Squad's already got too many feature requests so I doubt this would ever be a thing for them.
  2. I searched the forums and couldn't find this requested before - how hard would it be to put a luminosity slider on lighting parts? I ask because sometimes you need lighting, but not necessarily *all* the lighting, that a light provides. Plus, in combination lights quickly wash everything out and actually make seeing detail harder, not easier. Just a thought.
  3. Thanks, Exitalterego - I did as you suggested, and removed the USI mods. Then when I tried re-installing the USI mods, I got an error, but *not* a crash, as follows: About to install... * UniversalStorage 1.0.90.1 (cached) * UniversalStorage-KAS 1.0.0 (cached) Oh no! It looks like you're trying to install a mod which is already installed, or which conflicts with another mod which is already installed. As a safety feature, the CKAN will *never* overwrite or alter a file that it did not install itself. If you wish to install UniversalStorage 1.0.90.1 via the CKAN, then please manually uninstall the mod which owns: GameData/UniversalStorage/MiniAVC.xml and try again. Your GameData has been returned to its original state. Error! I then went in and deleted the xml file, and tried again. I got this error message: About to install... * UniversalStorage 1.0.90.1 (cached) * UniversalStorage-KAS 1.0.0 (cached) Module "Universal Storage" successfully installed Oh no! We tried to overwrite a file owned by another mod! Please try a `ckan update` and try again. If this problem re-occurs, then it maybe a packaging bug. Please report it at: https://github.com/KSP-CKAN/CKAN-meta/issues/new Please including the following information in your report: File : GameData/UniversalStorage/Parts/US_1R110_Wedge_KASContainer/KASContainer.tga Installing Mod : UniversalStorage-KAS 1.0.0 Owning Mod : UniversalStorage CKAN Version : v1.5.3-0-g0000000 (beta) Your GameData has been returned to its original state. Error! I refreshed the CKAN repository and tried again, but get the same error. **update** For those who are experiencing this error, there have been a few reports of it at GitHub, and apparently it's the result of some kind of dependency no longer needed in USI: https://github.com/KSP-CKAN/CKAN-meta/issues/220
  4. Thank you for your response! However, after updating, I get this error: See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box. ************** Exception Text ************** I should add that this is a fantastic utility and I am incredibly grateful for its creation and all the effort that has gone into it. But it's currently no longer working for me, for some reason. Not being a coder, the details reveal nothing, but maybe someone else will see it.
  6. Does this have CKAN integration yet? I would add it myself, but I'm not sure I'm allowed to.
  7. This looks very promising. I will be following the development of this project.
  8. FWIW, I think this is a good idea. This would help further distinguish your parts, and would fill a niche in nuclear engines. Also, the other parts you've been mentioning will be quite welcome. There actually isn't a lot of variety in structural parts (well, not as much as there is in flashier parts like engines or power systems).
  9. When I posted the problem to the TextureReplacer thread, they pointed out that there had been a revision to the mod right after I downloaded it, as disappearing parts were a known bug. I installed the new iteration of the mod (0.12.1), and all the parts appear in the VAB now.
  10. These look good! I'll be watching for the release...
  11. Yeesh -- I didn't realize there had been another release of TextureReplacer since I downloaded it on the 28th. I have installed 0.21.1 now and the parts are all there in the VAB. Thanks for bringing the version change to my attention.
  12. Hey folks -- I didn't see a bug report feature at GitHub, so I'll report it here: I installed TextureReplacer and it looks great, but it appears to be the reason the Deadly Reentry heatshields and some of the command pods disappeared from the VAB and R&D facilities in all my games. I uninstalled every mod I had (I have a lot installed) and swapped them all in one at a time, to track down why these parts were disappearing. It turned out to be TextureReplacer. This doesn't make a lot of sense to me, but I can confirm that the parts all return to the game once I remove TextureReplacer. There are no noteworthy flags or reports in the debug log (that I can see) indicating problems, and the models do seem to actually load at startup, but they just don't show up in the game. It seems especially weird that this would mainly affect Deadly Reentry, but guess mods can conflict. I don't remember anything like this happening with UniverseReplacer when I used that. I would prefer to use this mod, but for now I'm leaving it out of my game.
  13. Update! I went and uninstalled all the mods except DRE, and then slowly added mods until I isolated the culprit: TextureReplacer. For some reason unknown, TextureReplacer makes the heatshields disappear from the VAB and R&D facilities. Kind of a shame, because it's quite a nice mod. I will now go report this to the TextureReplacer dev, but I thought you might find it useful to know.
  14. After deleting and re-installing DRE, and starting both a new sandbox and career game to check, I guess I should report that all my heatshields except the 2.5 m shield for the Pod MK 1-2 no longer appear in the VAB or on any of my craft. One of my existing vessels was removed from one of my existing games because it had a 1.25m shield on it. It is truly odd that only the shield for the MK 1-2 appears. The ablative function and the ejection function for that shield both work normally. The models are being loaded on start, and I can't find anything in the logs mentioning anything unusual about the DRE parts. I have the following numerous mods installed (all compatible with 0.23): 000_Toolbar AIES_Areospace (legs and solar panels only) BoulderCo (City Lights and Texture Compression) DRE EnhancedNavBall FAR Firespitter (DLL only) HexCans HullCameraVDS RasterPropMonitor KAS KerbalJointReinforcement Kerbaltek (Hyperedit) Kerbpaint Kethane Klockheed_Martin (Tanks and shoulder mounts only)( Kommit_Nucleonics KSPX KWRocketry MagicSmokeIndustries (Plugins and Sounds only) MechJeb2RPM NavyFish (Docking Alignment Interface) Nothke_DROMOMAN NothkeSerCom RemoteTech2 RLA_PowerGeneration RLA_Stockalike SafeChute SCANsat SCANsatRPM SelectRoot Squad (Obvs) TextureReplacer ThunderAerospace (TAC Fuel Balancer) TreeLoader TriggerTech (Kerbal Alarm Clock and Alternate Resource Panel) VOID WarpPlugin ExsurgentEngineering.dll ModuleManager_1_5_6.dll That's a lot of mods, but they all play fine together. I have been using them without incident for some time now, but just since 0.23 the heatshields don't show up anymore. It's basically requiring me to design return vehicles that don't use the MK 1-2 pod with extra fuel and engines that slow spacecraft to negate re-entry heating, or using a 1-Kerbal pod with a 2.5m heatshield. Certainly possible, and kind of amusing for a time, but inefficient.
  15. Well, that was a ridiculous noob mistake on my part. I added the brace, and now it's working, generating ThermalPower but no appreciable WasteHeat. I guess I'll fiddle with it now, and thanks for your patience with my amateurish questions!
  16. The part itself just got hotter and hotter. I reverted to the VAB when it reached 1000 degrees. There was no WasteHeat resource building up, it was the actual part temperature that built up. The 1K Lander Can it was sitting on stayed at 20 degrees. Here's the code I used: @PART[RLA_CSRG] { MODULE { name = FNModuleRTG ReactorTemp = 450 ThermalPower = 0.015 radius = 0.625 RESOURCE { name = ThermalPower amount = 0 maxAmount = 1.5 } RESOURCE { name = WasteHeat amount = 0 maxAmount = 900 } RESOURCE { name = Plutonium-238 amount = 30 maxAmount = 30 } } (Please note I'm not a coder at all, so I admit I may have missed something elementary).
  17. First: Fractal_UK thanks for responding to my question! I can report that I added the noted MODULE and RESOURCE, and the RTG temperature started to climb, but there was no WasteHeat buildup, even after I added a RESOURCE min/max for WasteHeat; and adding a radial Graphene radiator didn't slow the climbing temperature of the RTG. Since RTGs are sort of like a sealed unit (reactor and generator in one), without scalability, I was hoping (naively, no doubt) that there was a way to just specify a set amount of WasteHeat buildup, like with solar panels.
  18. I did a search of the thread, but couldn't find a post directly on point: I think it might be cool (ha ha) to add a small WasteHeat buildup for non-KSPI power-generating parts (I'm specifically thinking of RLA's big RTGs). I think I can figure out how to use ModuleManager to do this, but I can't seem to find any configs in the KSPI folder that reveal the mechanism for creating a heat buildup. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
  19. FWIW, I just installed the cfg file you provided to GameData/JSI, and all the cockpit internals are working fine now. I have MM 1.5.6 installed. Thanks for the quick fix!
  20. These models are brilliant! They look like high-Kerbal-tech (i.e. advanced, but still kind of simple). Many (but not all) of the KSPI models are the public domain models released into the wild by ZZZ, who has publicly confirmed he will not be doing any more modelling for KSP: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/43840-Hab-Hub-%28and-other-strange-things%29?p=835419&viewfull=1#post835419 So, Fractal_UK might be very interested in having a new modeller to work with. But I obviously don't speak for KSPI, or any modder for that matter.
  21. Hi Termaul -- if you do this, could you please post how you did it, for those of us who are also experiencing this problem and aren't as code-savvy?
  22. Well, I think all of that is excellent. I'm embarrassed by my comments about the parts now...
  23. In fact, TAC does reflect my playstyle; I actually find ECLSS (and IonCross) to be a bit limited, and TAC is actually making an effort to integrate with other mods. It's the TAC parts that I have problems with, not the mod's features. I'll probably switch back once a modeller spends some time on the mod.
  24. I think the TAC mod is really great in terms of detail, but I would push back a bit on this point a bit. I started using this mod, but eventually the parts started to seem a bit OP because they seem kind of small for what they purport to represent. I'm using the ELSS life support mod right now mainly because the ELSS parts are bigger and more (realistically) intrusive for what they represent.
  25. This is one of my top 5 mods. Kudos for the great work -- the rockets and tanks especially feel like they should be stock. Is there a reason this isn't in the sticky list at the beginning of the add-ons showcase? Even if it is a WIP, it's more polished than a lot of mods that are supposedly in full release.
