  1. That's because the people who "cheat" will say "this game sucks it's way to easy!" Trust me I have seen it on other games before, and it wrecks the game. Perfect example are the people who use Mech Jeb. I have nothing against it. I even use it myself when i feel lazy. But how many people who are crying about an easy game when they use a mod to fly for them.
  2. I wouldn't be against real time science. I think it would give space stations and satellites a reason to be in orbit. The reason most people say time warped science is cheating would be the fact you don't even have to leave LKO orbit to unlock the entire tree. Unless they put a cap on it like the other science.
  3. I get this same thing with every part I weld. Part clip does not work. I have a noes cone with a few things on top of it. The nose cone will not attach to the fuel probe. ~edit~ If you select the part you welded first THEN choose your probe to control it that works. You have to choose the welded part first. And now all of my parts just fall off of my welded area on my rocket. RCS thrusters, solar panels, the engines... the launching stabalizers don't even attach onto the welded part anymore. It seems like the larger the welded object the less stuff wants to stick.
  4. You are looking at their ship... I think you would know if your ship exploded or not even with blackout. You must have some sort of "kill random kerbal during reentry" mod or something.
  5. Or just play sandbox mode? Squad probably won't put a button up to unlock parts for mods just for 1 or 2 patches. I think you are out of luck on this one.
  6. I think it would be funny if they gave him a pooper scooper... FOR SCIENCE!
  7. As long as i can clip parts into them i am ok with that. Some of my lander cans can't lower their gear/legs until the stage below it is gone. So if this is an option please let parts clip. Or toggle state like what mdosogne said.
  8. The whole reason you don't get decouplers at the start is to make you do science around kerbin, and not the mun for your first flight. It makes it a little more realistic for the new players. You have to make a few sub orbit missions before you go to the mun. Just wait till you have to be strapped to a budget. (If Squad does it right.) You won't make it to the mun before you get a decoupler. When I play the science mode I play it like a new player would. I didn't start out with 5 pods, and a huge ship that blows itself apart to get into orbit. I built a small rocket that i thought a new player would make to test the game. At the moment for more expereanced players yes it is easy. For new players on the other hand... It takes them a little more time. Personally to solve the science issue you should only get to use the science modules 1 time. Once they are used they are done. The science you send back to kerbin gets sent back and the science you didn't get to send back stays with the ship until you recover it back on kerbin. Example: I take a goo reading. I then send 40% back to Kerbin via transmission. The 60% I could not send stays on the ship to be recovered later once i return to Kerbin. If you trash the report the science not used returns to the pool, but you have to send another ship up because the goo pod can not be reset.
  9. Make it to where you can click on a kerbal to see his achievements in the form of badges like our forum sigs would be cool too. Hover over the badge to see everything completed highlighted, and anything not completed grayed out.
  10. I would rather see achievements. Kind of like the ribbons we make for our sigs.
  11. Kethane mod works for fueling. Not in career mode yet but for sandbox mode.
  12. Excel spreadsheets are your friend Date Moon/Planet Biome name Methods used to collect science How much science was recovered ~edit~ Oh yes, flags are helpful too since we can't really tell what biome is what yet.
  13. Or... Launch satellite before I go to class at 7 hit time acceleration. Come back at 4 that night and have the entire tree unlocked. BRILLIANT!
  14. I agree, but atm they want to make the tech tree easy to unlock for newer players. Without EVA and crew reports some of the new players would be without science. Personally I think they should start you out with a probe, a few of the smaller science mods like the thermometer, accelerometer, barometer, ect., the short range antana and a small battery First unlock would be the cheepo solar panel. That way you can take temp/pressure readings in the different levels of the atmosphere along with other readings as you launch.
  15. Each time you reply to someone who tells you career mode is unfinished you completely ignore what they say. I am starting to think you are either new to Alpha testing, or I smell a very clever troll. We understand what you are saying. You bought the game, you played career mode, and you beat it. You now think you have nothing else to do. We get that. What you have to understand is the fact career mode is an un-finished product. Right now science is the only thing we have in the game to prevent people from moving on, and yes right now it is super easy to unlock the tech tree. This is because Squad has yet to implement a budget for your space program. Once they implement credits, and a way to get a budget to run your space program, only then will we find out how easy or hard career mode will be. I send satellites and probes to planets before I send a manned mission because I want it to be realistic. If you don't that is your loss. I prefer to not have those bulky science modules on my lander. This game has been and always will be what ever you want to make it. That's why it has been so sucsessful this far. People with creativity and imagination make this game fun for them, the developers just give them the tools inside the game to work with.
  16. Can a moon have a moon? I think that would be pretty interesting
  17. I think the underlined part would make a great SciFi show. Attack of the killer spiders in a zero G space station. I'm sure it's probably been done before though.
  18. So you are saying you would rather get in your car and drive to a location 1/2 way across the continent you live on without looking at any maps, road signs, or asking any directions. What's wrong with knowing where you are going? Do you think NASA sends manned space flights without mapping the surface first? The whole point of knowing what biomes you are in or over is to explore new biomes. Otherwise I just say, "Screw it i really don't care. On to the next planet." On a side note, I love the idea about sending up a satellite to get a map of the planet and it's biomes. It would still have immersion, you still work for your exploration, and it makes searching for biomes more fun. Heck they could make it an "end game" part so you have to unlock everything to get the mapping tool. That way when you are done with your science you can start a whole new biome exploration after your science exploration is over. This would be pretty easy to overlap. Have a scanning screen that has 2 tabs. One tab shows terrain height, and the other shows the biomes. Or just outline the biomes on the terrain height map. Maybe click on a biome to enlarge the area of that biome only. The options are endless.
  19. It would be nice to change name/type. I lose space probes all the time, it would be nice to name them [ship name (dead)] and change them to debris so I don't think it's a live ship.
  20. This would be amazing. Kerbal stats would really want to make more people hold onto their kerbals, and return them safely.
  21. I agree completely. I think they may have held off on this because they wanted people to do science in the career mode for testing.
  22. You must be doing it wrong... what, do you want to unlock 1/2 the tech tree without leaving kerbin? So far with every flight I can unlock 1-2 blocks of the tech tree with each flight with a "normal" small rocket... Don't forget you don't have to have the kerbal inside your rocket to recover your rocket. Jump out and collect EVA and surface samples after you land. Recover your kerbal and then recover your rocket.
  23. I use satellites all the time. I send them to orbit and land on planets to send science back. They say you don't get as much back if you broadcast, but if you can fill the tree with all of the science without sending kerbals up (after unlocking probes) why not do it? 1. Start With a satellite that has 2 science cans for a body, and 2-4 goo cans on the outside. Hook up some solar panels and batteries, lander legs ect. 2. I send it out to lets say Minmus and start in a high orbit. I spam transmit until I get 0 science back. 3. I descend to a lower orbit, and spam transmit again until i get 0 science back. 4. I then land on the planet, and spam transmit again until I get 0 science back. 5. I destroy probe and start on a new planet or moon. Once I do that I look at sending kerbals to those planets for crew reports, EVA, and surface samples. That way you don't have to have the bulky science mods on your lander. Space stations on the other-hand I agree, and i have a thread up about that already.
