Tier 1 VAB is waaay to big.
CumpyLustard replied to Whirligig Girl's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I definitely agree. I was surprised how quickly I hit the weight limit (which relates to the launchpad, I know) in comparison to how huge it is. There's certainly plenty of space in there. Hopefully it will be adjusted soon. -
[Career] Annoying Contracts
CumpyLustard replied to Biker Joe's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I am not particularly fond of any of the parachute testing contracts. I'm just really used to pretty much waiting until the last second to open my chutes, and now I have to open one between 20500 and 29200m? I prefer to live life on the edge, Research and Development Department! -
Parts Listed as Experimental
CumpyLustard replied to CumpyLustard's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Oh alright, that's a pretty cool feature, thanks guys! -
In my new career game, I noticed every so often that one part would be highlighted blue and have "** EXPERIMENTAL **" in its properties, as such: If I had to hazard a guess, I would say that it does this for parts you need to test for a contract, but I've only ever seen one part at a time marked as experimental, even when I have multiple parts to test for contracts. So I guess my question is: what does this mean?

Parts testing contracts - error?
CumpyLustard replied to DavidHunter's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Also, I'm not positive, but you should be able to shut down the engine and restart it to complete the contract. If not that, you might be able to re-order the engine in your staging and then activate it again (I was trying earlier and I'm not sure which option worked). Of course, this might be difficult to do as your velocity will probably quickly decrease, but you might be able to pull it off. -
Alright, I was able to just add more parachutes to slow down my velocity and keep it in tact. It took my a couple tries (once I was safe in the water) but I think I had to shutdown the engine and reactivate it in order for the contract to complete. I always forget about the crash tolerance of parts, and I just kind of assumed water always destroyed engines and fuel tanks. Thanks!

As the title asks, I received/accepted a contract to test a LV-909 Fuel Engine while splashed down at Kerbin. Of course, however, the engine is destroyed immediately upon contact with the water. Is there a (reasonable) way to keep the engine in tact? I just started a new career and only have a small amount of parts to work with.

Have YOU ever had a Kraken attack?
CumpyLustard replied to CrazedGunman502's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I think I've gotten away pretty lucky so far. Mostly just random explosions on the launch pad, no major problems in space! -
How many Kerbals do you have in need of rescuing?
CumpyLustard replied to Fenris's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Frank Kerman is currently "landed" on the Mun, researching the effects of crashing a rocket carelessly into the surface. -
How much do you care about Kerbals dying?
CumpyLustard replied to zapman987's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I really try to keep them alive, and almost always revert when I can to prevent any unwanted losses. I did try to play where I wouldn't revert if any Kerbals died, but since they just seem to wander their way back into my roster after a while, I decided to resume reverting to avoid tragic Kerbal demises. -
What's your "YES!" moment when you research a part in career?
CumpyLustard replied to Sesni's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Definitely the solar panels like everyone else has said, but I was also very excited to get the Hitchhiker Storage Container to make bases and stations. -
Winglets: Useful or waste of space?
CumpyLustard replied to zapman987's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
The AV-T1 winglet is pretty useless in my experience, but the AV-R8 winglet does seem to help my shoddy craft make their way into space! -
Is it really? I've been picking Kerbals incorrectly this whole time, then!

I wasn't sure if I should start a new thread or just post in this big one, so I'll just go with this one. Hey! I'm starting to get better at the game after about 100 hours and I figured it would be a good time to see what goes on here. I'm looking forward to contributing (probably not much ) and utilizing everything that other people post!
