Would You Save the Rocket Builders? RESULTS IN
_jack replied to YargJay9991's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Rocket Builders is a great place to share your own craft, but the space craft exchange may be better as a whole. I guess I can say goodbye as I rarely go on it anymore. ;-;7 -

Wow I though 1.0.5 would come in a week or so! Give me thirty minutes... -
Hello fellow Kerbonauts! Today I bring you he next generation in space shuttle design, the Shuttle Mk 5! This design has enough room to store 5.8 meters high and the 3 meter wide payloads while the docking/airlock hub is installed. The shuttle is propelled by a Rockomax brand "Mainsail" engine and has four backup LVT-45 "Swivel Engines". Two fuel cell clusters are use to power the ship's electronics. With enough space to fit four Kerbals on a magical journey, you can launch small satellites to building large scale space stations. Download Shuttle Mk 5 V3 HERE! (Dropbox) Instructions on how to fly: (video to come shortly (maybe)) Launch like a normal rocket occasionally using w and s to correct heading. Once you hit 10 kilometers, SLOWLY turn over to a forty five degree angle and keep that pitch until you run out of fuel in the first booster stage. Once you separate you will have to pitch downward as the engines equalize in force. Once here you will want to burn towards you desired altitude. You MUST, I repeat MUST ditch you second booster here as the shuttle will not be balanced (hopefully not in the future). Don't worry though, the shuttle has enough fuel to take you places. After you make a burn into LKO, you can switch back to second booster stage and use its reaming fuel to land in with parachutes in the ocean. Official names for the shuttle are based off exploration ships (like the real shuttles): Adventure Eagle Endurance Resolution Nova Vote in the poll for the best name! Also, send suggestions for missions for the shuttle because I'm too lazy to make any.

I did some tests on KSS Laniakea. She can easily be decapitated if your shots are aimed correctly. Engines are well armored. If you hit the most of the paneling on the sides, it will simply break doing no extreme damage. But the KSS Laniakea is built along a spine that goes from the cupola to the engines, and if one of the fuel tanks is hit, the ships is render useless being split in half.

I had to get rid of all the debris in order to get it running at a reasonable frame rate. I think it was close to 650+.
-
I forgot I had spent so much time putting these ships up in LKO.

Open Source Construction Techniques for Craft Aesthetics
_jack replied to GusTurbo's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
A couple of days ago I created these stock propeller engines. Using air intakes and a small rocket fuel tank I was able to make the body of the engine. The propeller itself is made of a Communotron, solar panels, and cubic struts. You could switch out the basic jet engine for the turbo for more power, but the after burner effects on the turbo make it look funny in my opinion. The Buffalo can't really fly well even with engines and the Vampire is a brick in the air. Thanks for the complement though

Here's some random planes I made in .90. They look decent and work like trash, but I am going to fix them in 1.0. de Havilland Vampire FB.5 Brewster F2A Buffalo Not going to leave any download links because reasons.

Yes, I used the Gravioli first then the strut. Took a bit of fiddling but I worked it out. If you need any help with making it work I can help. -

Not really too creative but is using the offset tool so it kind of is creative... Just google Space Technology 5. Sort of a pain to make a payload with a couple of these sadly -
Landing on the Mun. I always tried to build this massive lander with RCS, docking ports, more than enough parachutes, and SCIENCE!!! So I failed every time until I massively down scaled to a simple one man capsule, small fuel tank, engine, and gear.

Squad isn't going to under develop anything after 1.0, I think it's going to be the same if not better. My guess is a lot of popular mods will be slowly put into vanilla KSP. And more planets! (I need more places to go...)

0.7.3, how hard can it be
_jack replied to Hotblack Desiato's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
This seems interesting. I started way back in .17 so I want to see how far we've come along. - - - Updated - - - Before playing: Glad to see the progress that has been made over the years. After playing: How does this even work!!! Seriously though I can't build anything that works effectively. -
Great job! Well at least there is a couple days to have fun with it before 1.0. P.S. I love the cockpit design.

Thank you Adester.

If you read the title, nuff said. BF4 based hover tank. This is just the very beginning of this project, so everything is just the basics of the final product.
