So, early in a new career, Jeb is on his way home from a Munar orbit mission. I don't have the aerobrake lined up yet so he's coming in high and hot. My son distracts me somehow, I AFK without pausing thinking I'll be back in a few minutes. It's more than a few minutes. While I'm gone, magic occurs, I think a Minmus slingshot may have been involved, and Jeb ends up in an orbit that's tangent to Kerbin on one side and pretty tangent to Duna on the other. I slap together an unmanned rescue ship, burn it almost dry getting out there, Jeb does a terrifying 100km spacewalk to get in, and with the last of its fuel I bring the apoapsis down so I don't have to worry about a Duna crash. By 3:30 in the morning, I've gotten a second fuel-heavy monster of a rescue ship out to him, he executes another spacewalk and then we orbit for several years waiting for Kerbin to catch up with us. 'Kerbin encounter' is a beautiful pair of words. So after that, I've decided he's retired - he'll fly planes when I get the parts for them, and he can do CAPCOM duty for the new kids, but it's time for him to stay home for a while.
