I used a similar technique of free motion and locking it square on the center of mass. Additionally, I built a ship that has 4 RCS grabbers just off the top (Claw, 2 medium RCS tanks, remote control core and 4 RCS ports. I come up on an asteroid, impale it with a couple of the RCS pods and then attach the main tug and align. Even with it a little off, the RCS will keep it aligned during burns and makes turning the thing much easier. Once attached, it sees the whole thing as one big ship and will use the RCS pods as needed as you can see from a couple pictures I took the other day. Only used this on class C so far, works like a charm. Edit: bah, I'm a newb when it comes to Images. Thank you Padishar

Okay, so I'm pretending to be at work so can't play around with it, but I loaded up the .23 last night and played late. I was tired and so maybe I'm just missing something obvious. I orbited the MobileLab and EVA'd two kerbinauts into it, did some laboratory work and I couldn't figure out how to get them outta there. It's like it ate them, their little pictures don't show on the ship, right clicking the kerbal eater gave me nothing. I think this is a ploy to feed Kerbals to some psyhco machine. I had to get to sleep, so left it at that and went to bed. This ship wouldn't survive re-enty with that mammoth attached, so am I doing something wrong? Hep me please! Jensen and Sigbal are like my children. 13

So I'm trying to collect Mun's biomes in career mode. Jenson gets stranded with low fuel trying to find the polar lowlands. I send up the latest ship I have that happen to have with a new little buggy strapped on top and land it within 10m of him with plenty of fuel for the ride home. So I unload the buggy and Jenson takes it for a spin which he promptly flips and grinds his head off.... <sigh>, lost my first Kerbal in career mode.
