No. Not yet.

Got it. Thanks.
-
Thank you. I am newish here. What is Precise Node?

What I need to be able to do is see the coloured distribution in the map mode of any vessel but as it is I can only see it in the map mode of the basic M700 scanner. Even in the Space Station it doesn't show it on the surface, there is just a little bit of information on the right. My surface scanner is on its way but has not arrived yet. Am I missing something?
-
Thanks all. I will have a look at the pack. I don't mind the tourists having different itineraries that is just a small complication that can be fun solving, but when one wants to sub-orbit the sun I don't take any of them
-
What is it with these tourist that want a sub-orbital flight on the Sun? Is there a sensible way of delivering this?
-
I am confused about how to use these. I have an M700 Survey Scanner in a polar orbit. I activated it and it gave me a coloured rendering of the surface of the object it is orbiting, but I can only see that colouring when in map mode of that specific vessel. I then put a M4435 Narrow-Band Scanner into a polar orbit and activated it. I expected that it would steadily refine the accuracy of the initial scan, but all it seems to do is to tell me what is exactly underneath it at that instant, this information does not appear to be saved anywhere. Surely with the technology the Kerbals have a bit of RAM to save this information is not too much to ask. I would expect anything discovered by the M700 to be visible in the map display of any vessel and I would expect that display to be refined by an orbiting M4435. Or am I missing something? Also the % resource on the GUI of the M4435 does not appear to be particularly useful. As far as I can see the % shown on the left click menu of the unit is more useful as it changes depending on what is below it. I spent hours on 0.9 with kethane so that might explain my thinking. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I have four Kerbals with orange jackets but I have other who seem equally qualified. How does one get an orange jacket and what does it signify? Obviously not a mission critical question. Many thanks

I suppose I am okay having a strange shaped ship, but more fundamentally it would mean me spending science to unlock a whole load of spaceplane stuff that I have no interest in.
-
But they don't seem the correct shape for a rocket.

Update Prompted by Sharpy's comment I have just been playing around with a spreadsheet and in checking my numbers against MechJeb I have come to the view that a straight comparison is slightly complicated by the fact that the LV-N does not consume oxidiser. So in the formulae provided by Snark the - mass of fuel for the LV-909 is the mass of liquid fuel + the mass of oxidiser - mass of fuel for the LV-N is only the mass of the liquid fuel - and the dry mass for the LV-N should include any oxidiser in the tank (hence the suggestion to dump to first) Apologies if this well known. It wasn't to me. Once again thanks for all the help
-
Thanks. I now see why the LV-N seems less useful that in 0.9: Changes 1.0 LV-N “Nerv†Engine now runs solely on Liquid Fuel. No longer has a gimbal. Cost increased to 10000. Mass increased from 2.25 to 3. Isp curve extended past 1 atmosphere; Isp drops to 0.001 at 2 atm. I will check it out with no oxidiser.
-
That is really helps fuel. Thank you for taking the time to explain that and for pointing me to other resources. Much appreciated.

Interesting. I haven't tried them yet, what I was hoping they would do is to reduce the drag at the top of the rocket so it doesn't somersault if I start the gravity turn below 20+km.

I have just spent 100's if not 1000's of hours on 0.9 and have now upgraded to 1.02 and started all over again. In my 0.9 activities I thoughtlessly used the nuclear engine for all inter-planetary travel because of its high ISP. All my rockets were big and industrial but now I have to pay for things I am needing to be a bit more careful. I see that the LV-909 is 0.5 t with an ISP of 345 in vacuum and costs 390. The LV-N is 3.0 t with an ISP of 800 in vacuum and costs 10,000. Both deliver the same thrust. For relatively light rockets the LV-909 gives a much better delta-v but I expect for rockets so heavy that the weight of the engine is relatively insignificant the LV-N will do better in terms of delta-v. Is there a formula that relates mass of rocket, ISP of engine and delay-v so that I can work out the crossover point (i.e. the mass of the rocket) where the LV-N provides better delta-v? Many thanks for all your help so far.

Many thanks. That explains it. I have been ignoring the space plane stuff and so have not unlocked these yet.

That's not it I'm afraid

KSP Wiki refers to cargo fairings being available in stock (e.g. AE-FF1 Airstream Protective Shell) "They are the first and currently only procedural part available in the stock game". Where are they? Unless I am being very stupid I don't see them in the Tech Tree.

Is there no way I can go into a previous save and copy the correct vessel back into the latest save?
-
Thank you. I probably over did it by changing it from 10 to 20, but it feels more sensible now.

To fullfil two different contracts I put two different Stations in orbit around the sun. I now see that one of them has gone missing. Why? and How can I get it back, I have all the automatic and quick saves going back for quite sometime. v1.02 on the Mac. Thanks

Problem with Minmus Greater Flats?
THobson replied to THobson's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I landed the ship on Minmus Highlands fine. It wasn't just EVA it was all science. Even MechJeb was confused when trying too land. It thought it hadn't landed when it had. BTW I am using the Mac version, not that that should make any difference. -
I have upgraded the Contract Office or whatever it is called to the fullest extent and so should be able to have unlimited contracts active, but if I have 14 active then I am not offered any more until I complete one. v1.02

Problem with Minmus Greater Flats?

I am just using stock parts. I tried landing twice, but not with a reload in-between. That ship is now units way back home so I will need to try again with another.
