Is there an estimate of time or cost or additional devs to get KSP2 to Gold status on ProtonDB in re: Linux Support? Is there a Linux build, and what are the regressions with ProtonGE and Steam's Proton Experimental? ProtonDB > KSP2: https://www.protondb.com/app/954850 https://www.protondb.com/app/954850?device=pc - PROTON_NO_XIM=1 - Toggle full screen in game but also -popupwindow (Bazzite is a Fedora Silverblue rpm-ostree distribution with support for Steam Deck and also Intel/NVIDIA/AMD; which ships ProtonUp-Qt with which ProtonGE 9-2 (2024-03) can be installed.) Are there Unity on Linux bugs that could be bumped?

After recovering a craft, the crew that was onboard is no longer available. I can reproduce this in a new game, with a craft consisting of a single pod being recovered from the launchpad. Edit: This happens for kerbals in crafts, as well as individual kerbals. It doesn't matter if I use the tracking station or the ESC menu. There are large gaps in the terrain on kerbal. This is visible in KSC view, but also when flying a craft. It seems that the missing parts are always the same though. Although it is not visible, collisions do work. So far I've not seen any clouds, but there is a layer of grass hanging low above the runway. AMD Ryzen 9 3950X 64 GB DDR4-3600 AMD RX 5700 openSUSE Tumbleweed, KDE Plasma (Xorg) Proton Experimental Launch Options: PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% Version 0.1.0.0.20892

When right clicking on a part, the menu shows the wrong state initially. Clicking on the part in the menu does work as expected. Lunokhod 1 For the anniversary of the launch of Luna 17 I present to you: stock replicas of Lunokhod 1 and Luna 17! Built at 75% scale to fit on my Proton K/D (included below). It took a lot of fiddling to get the stock hinges working and they're a bit of an eyesore but I still think it turned out well enough. Also, it took a lot of reading to get some of the details right so I hope you don't mind if I regale you with my newfound knowledge. Lunokhod 1 was a Soviet lunar rover launched on November 10, 1970. It was carried to the Moon by the Luna 17 lander, which was launched atop a Proton rocket. On November 17 Luna 17 touched down on the Moon and released onto the surface Lunokhod 1, which became the first roving vehicle to land on another world. The Lunokhod Program The Rover The Lander Moon Walker Built in stock KSP v.1.8.1, no DLC required Updated for 1.9.0 ↓ ↓Download here↓ ↓ rover + lander only (257 parts): https://www.dropbox.com/s/z20y3l1xtksrmln/Lunokhod 1.craft?dl=0 launch configuration atop Proton rocket (835 parts): https://kerbalx.com/tehmattguy/Lunokhod-1 Controls Lander RCS/ vernier systems are toggled off by default- press 4 to toggle attitude vernier control and press 5 to toggle landing vernier control. The Titan-Proton GLVM is a mix of a Titan II GLV and Proton-M rocket. The first stage is a Titan II first stage with Proton-M boosters, stage 2 is a proton second stage, stage 3 is a Titan II GLV second stage, and the payload inside the fairing is a Gemini spacecraft. Its the second of my "combined rockets", and works pretty well! You could probably put the spacecraft into munar orbit if your good enough with its fuel. Parts: 71 Crew: 2 Mass: 131.83t Cost: 144,559 Downloads: KerbalX, Steam Workshop

Proton The Proton was born as the "UR-500", a two-stage super heavy ICBM. With the addition of a third stage it was reworked to serve as a heavy launch platform for the Soviet Union. It was then named "Proton-K" after some of its first payloads, the Proton satellites. In its decades of service it launched a wide array of missions, from space stations to interplanetary probes and landers. The K/D version uses the "Block D" upper stage in its stack. This stage was originally used to boost unmanned Zond spacecraft around the moon. It was later used to boost probes as far as Mars and Venus. Stage 1 Stage 2 Stage 3 Stage 4, Block D If you'd like to see the rest of the mission (Venera 9) you can read about it here: https://imgur.com/a/dTFtu6p The craft was built in stock KSP v1.5.1, using 493 parts. Stage timings written in the description. Download here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/9crpw4exedgcrz3/Proton-K D-1.craft?dl=0

Has anyone tried hot-staging in KSP? Is it even possible to do without destroying the rocket trying to do it? I've been trying to get something working with Tantares, but I keep blowing stuff up. I'm thinking of just using MM configs to edit Max temps and such on the proper parts. Any ideas?

It looks like ILS has decided to develop 2 stage of the proton to launch smaller payloads. they are going to use the breeze m as a second stage and remove the original second stage and expand the first. they also plan to make one with four engines instead of 6 http://spaceflightnow.com/2016/09/22/smaller-variants-of-russias-proton-rocket-on-the-market/

So a few months ago, I got interested in the Proton design and did some research on it. I was surprised to see that its first stage had engines only one its "Strap-on boosters". I mean it doesn't have strap on boosters! But only today, I found a video that kinda annoyed me. This guy's Proton was incredibly unrealistic as it had six solid rocket boosters and a main tank which the real Proton doesn't. But that brought up a question. Why doesn't it use those six engine holder booster thingys as actual strap on booster with a middle engine? I mean it works in Kerbal Space Program! But jokes aside, why did the soviet union choose to build it like this? Also if anyone doesn't know how the Proton works, here: Also here is a replica I made tonight: So does anyone know why this is? Thanks Fire

Welcome, welcome fellow kerbonauts! Today i want to show my favourite rocket! The Proton K,as we all know was used to put the Salyut/Alamaz space stations into orbit and is right now the soviets most reliable heavy lift rocket. It has three stages. So today in the space craft exchange i built a (sort off) Proton K,so here it is!
