  1. No doubt, the rules on this have changed over game versions, but I'm particularly interested in 1.12 (which is near enough to 1.11, which I play). This mechanism is important when trying to swim from one craft to another one, very close by, in order to board it. Kerbals seem to have a loiter-in-a-very-slow-climb mode that is quite annoying if they escape and begin crawling to the surface. Call that 'crawl' mode. Then they have a 'shoot' mode in which they rise rather rapidly. I have built underwater base experiments with e.g. 'verandas' or overhead arches to provide a 'safe zone', but don't really know what I am doing without knowledge of the 'rules'... Ideas?
  2. I use MechJeb2 and a big rocket to land into a 200km orbit (repeatedly due to ongoing space station build). All good, first burn takes me to 65-70km, with 2300m/s horizontal velocity. Then I wait until 200km and make a small burn to circularise. Nothing to complain really but I am wondering if all can be done at one go ? I mean how can I adjust MechJeb to fly to 200km at once and keep firing to complete circularising ? I feel like there must be an ascent profile such that correct vertical velocity is achieved at the desired altitude. Hope it is not a silly question. Thanks, Charles
  3. Hello, I was hoping getting MechJeb's ascent guidance module would help me automate the launch but I can't quite follow the ascent path. Seems like my rocket is too powerful so I've tried to limit throttle and/or acceleration during ascent but it's very clumsy and it usually works poorly. http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198276590575/screenshot/499154497084905198 Is this a rocket design flaw or are there smarter parameters in the ascent guidance?
  4. What is the optimal ascent profile in 1.1.2. I know this change in 1.05 but I have taken some time off and now getting back in. The old Delta V maps put orbit of kerbin at around 4500. However some of the newer maps I see put it as low as 3200! I can do it now at about 4300 or so doing a 5-degree turn and keeping under 200m/s until 10K meter, Then slowly going to 90 degrees and full speed after 10K. (the way Manley used to say) but how on earth do I get to the 3200? Space plane?
