AS-2 Vulture "Best thing I've bought since my afterburning toaster" - A satisfied kerbal "Great product. -1 star for suffocating tidal wave of packaging peanuts" - A satisfied asphyxiated kerbal "Charged for arson after accidentally destroying my recently insured house with missiles" - An unsatisfied bankrupt kerbal I have recently been constructing a navy, in particular a carrier in a vain attempt to classed as a national superpower. Rule Kerbtannia, Kerbtannia rules the waves... However, to keep part count down to a reasonable number while maintaining a good balance of aesthetics and functionality, the deck is only 50m long. This is problematic for conventional HTOL planes, as is made clear in this picture. Ouch... my national reputation... I then came up with the brilliant idea of building a plane with a stock rotating engine. I had seen a lot of these before, particularly @Servo's F-35 replica and @JollyGreenGI's CTR-3S Rocker, but none were small enough to operate on my small carrier. 3 hours and 3 deleted prototypes later, I came up with the AS-2 Vulture! This may shock some, but wing plates are in fact made of highly heat-resistant alloy, and not cardboard. The stock hinge is very reliable, I'm yet to have a failure. I've seen other designs have airbrakes to lever the engine into place, but they take up a lot more space and are a lot trickier to build, so I went with a switching design. Weapons wise, they carry 2 APOG-1 Pidgeon guided missiles, (which are basically rip offs of @iamonfire's stock fire and forget missiles) and I'm hoping to be able to fit an ore tank bomb on it somewhere. (This is an older version of the plane, the download version not only looks better but functions much more smoothly) Thats about it! I'm planning to build a drone SSTO version, if I can find out how to build SSTO's, so I might add threat to this thread later.
