How do I directly switch to a nearby craft rather than cycling with [ and ]? or going to KSC

What the subject says. How do I directly switch to a nearby craft (in this case, a nearby Kerbal from a Kerbal) without having to cycle through every nearby craft and piece of debris or taking the long way around and going to KSC and back?

you can go to the map view, left-click what you want to switch to, and then select "switch to" from the menu that pops up (the other option is "set as target")

If you can't zoom the map in far enough to click directly on what you want to switch to, http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/89920-0-90-2015-01-17-Haystack-Continued-%28v0-4-0-0%29 allows you to search for things by name and switch to them.

You can also click on an object's orbit, but that's probably not much use unless things have considerable relative motion.
