Station name changes when ship docks

every time i dock a ship to my space station (Tera Sci) it changes it name to the ship that dock with it causing me to go back and rename the station. is there any way to stop this? it is really annoying.

Is your station labelled as, well, 'station' craft? Are you sure you dock ship to station and not otherwise?

I think it matters what order you launched then in. Just from my own in game experience I noticed this. Docking an 'old' ship to a 'new' station causes the station to take on the 'old' name. Not sure there is a way around this other than to launch your ships again.

I built an entirely new station in Kerbin orbit. I sent a vessel which had been docked at my old station for a while over to the new station. So I'm not sure if the game is counting from the time I actually launched it (two hundred-odd game days ago) or when I undocked from the old station (after the new station had been built and named). In either case, the new station has retained its name.

I don't really have an older ship I can dock with it until I get my crew back from Moho. But this subject will be dead and gone by the time they get back.

From what I recall, it's a bit more complicated then launch order. It also look as the vessel classification.

If you want to dig, then look at your docking ports in the save file, you will see that when you dock the ship, it stores the vessel name (prior to the docking) in the docking port's attributes.
