Rescuing Kerbal mission in Career mode

Ok, so getting up there and to the Kerbal is no problem. The issue is activating the stranded Kerbal to board your ship (yes, I have an available capsule). This is a mission in the career mode, so I don't have control of the Kerbal, and I can't figure out how to get it to board the ship or gain manual control of the Kerbal.

press the [ key to switch to the kerbal while in physics range and then r to activate the jetpack. then just fly him in.

Have you tried pressing '[' or ']' while you are around 2.5km away from him? (not sure about the distant, but you can still manually control him with those 2 buttons '[', ']'

Thanks, worked fine. Can't believe I forgot about that. Haven't played in about 6 months so I'm kind of rusty, lol.

This pops up enough that it deserves to be re-stickied ... something like "Rescuing Kerbals and other contract FAQs", probably including orbits going the wrong way, missing a part, and the like.
