Going through the Mun

A couple of days ago I was playing around with the Thunder Bird mod. So I wanted to see how fast I could land on the Mun by just speeding at it the whole time. Half way there i realized I would crash into it unless i turned off the engines. But i was still too fast and when i was about to hit it, instead of blowing up, I just went through it. I just kept going and then came out the other end. Unfortunately I didn\'t get any pictures, and i was wondering if this was part of the the Space Kraken bug. Thanks

Now I can\'t find the thread where I read this, but some people are finding that turning up your terrain detail may work around this. Once I kicked mine up to 100% I was able to land without falling into the center.

Yeah, that should help.

The Space Kraken is totally unrelated, since I doubt you were going over 9km/s. That\'s when the Kraken usually starts to become noticeable. It basically glitches the physics engine, and you end up not being able to control your ship. Your ship typically just spins out of control every which way.

It happened to me again while using the Component Space Shuttle. This time I got some footage of it. Check it out and and why do i have no trajectory?

The lack of trajectory is a bug that happens sometimes when changing SOIs. Try zooming (way) out and in again in map mode?

I just checked my terrain detail. It\'s at 100% and is still doing it

Same thing happens to me. Seems localized around an area.

I have to ask, did you have timewarp accelerated? Anything beyond 2x, and your craft is put on rails. There have been instances detailed before where people\'s craft would fly through the Mun or Kerbin while in timewarp. If it wasn\'t, then this is a separate condition incident and is definitely worth recording some instances and sharing them in the development section.

Yesterday I was trying to see how hard I could crash into Kerbin, but I was too slow in turning down the time warp and went straight through the whole planet at around 8000km/s

km/s? Are you sure it wasn\'t m/s =P

Fast enough to begin to see light distort and see time dilation at work, if only fractionally.
