Keliosynchronous orbit

Recommended Posts

So there is a job on offer to put a sat in a keliosynchronous orbit. I was just wondering what the best way of achieving this orbit is? Is it to get an orbit around Kerbol and then just burn retro to get to Ap or is there a better way as this would surely need a large amount of Dv?

Thanks.

Get into a stable orbit first. This way you're not fighting the planet while raising your AP at the same time.

----EDIT----

Wait...I seem to have misread the OP...

You're talking about around Kerbol, not Kerbin aren't you? If so...I can't help you there. Sorry.

No worries thanks anyway

You have three choices of how to go about things, pretty much ... use a bi-elliptic transfer (that is, RAISE your apoapsis to make dropping your periapsis easier), use gravity assists, or do it the hard way (straight Hoffman transfer).
