THE HEXANIAN SPACE PROGRAM

I decided to reboot this, because I thought my formatting was atrocious.

There used to be two major powers on Kerbin; the North Trianian Empire, and the South Trianian Republic. They had always bickered over tiny things. Then one day, the Emperor of North Triania declared war on South Triania (when asked about this later on, he just said he was bored).

The fight raged on for a century. Many lives were claimed, but eventually, after the Final Snack Battle of 2014, the South Trianian Forces claimed victory. North Triania was assimilated into South Triania, and the Republic of Hexania was born.

There was a lot of technology developed from the war to fight the North, such as rocket engines, flat screen monitors, and high altitude suits. The trouble is, no-one knew what to do with this tech now the war was over. Wernher von Kerman's suggestion for a space program was rebuffed initially. But he was persistent. He was admired throughout Hexania, and eventually, to shut him up, the Hexanian Space Program was started up.

This is its story...

MISSION 1: Hexnik-1

Funding was given to a series of Kerbin-orbiting satellites, to survey Kerbin from space, and to gain experience in preparation for more advanced manned missions.

Despite the setback of this failure, preparations were underway for Hexnik-2...

MISSION 2: Hexnik-2

After the failure of Hexnik-1, a backup was immediately prepared. New rules during assembly, although controversial, would hopefully prevent another setback.

With this success, the Hexanian Space Program felt ready to begin a scientific satellite program, to further pave the way to Kerbals in space.

MISSIONS 3 & 4: Hexnik-3 & 4

While Hexnik-2 was a great success, it didn't do much, and a survey agreed that Hexnik-2 was "cool but lame". So a series of scientific satellites was funded, and launched to find out more about the planet Kerbin. Also, the new Kerbal Space Center had been finished.

This first scientific satellite discovered the magnetic field surrounding Kerbin, and determined the types of radiation in orbit. As luck would have it, it turns out that the green pigment of the Kerbal's skin blocked out most types of radiation, simplifying shielding immensely. The next satellite was to investigate radio and plasma waves in the space around Kerbin.

These consecutive successes allowed a mapping satellite to be approved.

MISSION 5: Hexnik-5

With the first 3 satellites in orbit, it was decided that the next unmanned satellite would create a whole map of Kerbin, using revolutionary SAR and multispectral scanning technology. It would also carry cameras to obtain visible images.

After this mission, it was decided to start the manned Hexov program.
