Add struts in EVA

Can anyone recommend a mode that will allow a Kerbal to add struts (or some other way of reinforcing craft) on EVA?

I have tried some in the past but they don't seem to have been updated recently.

KAS is your friend.

I have KAS but I'm not sure that you can use it for stock struts and it's wiki page doesn't explain what else I could do.

No, you have to use KAS struts with it - they work like the other pipes, attach endpoints and link them.

Ahh I hadn't paid the premium to unlock them so they didn't appear as something I could add to a container.

There is a new, better version of KAS out called KIS Kerbal Inventory System http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/113111-0-90-Kerbal-Inventory-System-%28KIS%29-1-0-0

I'm pretty sure you can put almost any item in the Inventory slots, including but not limited to stock struts
