Do our eyes see the same things?

I'm thinking of doing the same thing like the second case in this link (http://www.quora.com/How-do-you-swap-the-color-of-pixels-in-MATLAB) over the continous spectrum. If one turns out to see a better version of it (for oneself), he might be a case for that the perceived colors can be difrerent. I can't use MATLAB though...

Look at my profile picture - that's continous spectrum. I don't know how would someone see it if they have red at blue, yellow - green at green etc. But as far as I can tell, everyone perceive it the same, even the same to RGB colors from CCD (which we can machine exactly).

We're talking about qualia here. Figure out how to explain the colour blue to a blind man, and you'll know how to explain your perception of blue to me so I can compare it with my own perception of blue.

Of course, the reasons we can't do that comparison are the same as the reason it doesn't matter. You see blue, I see blue, our brain may process it differently but the result is the same.

My own reason for why I think that everyone see the same thing is because color vision is a basic thing to a human, even from it's birth (no outer influence ! If there's anything it would be genes at most), whether defective (like in color blind) or not. I mean, say, in my family I can assure that my parents would see the same as me, my relatives should quite see the same thing. Expanding more, it can be thought that everyone should see the same thing - think about common ancestors ! If there're people who have different processing, then we should already see people that is color blind not due to retinal defect, but due to neural defect because of the crossing of the genes (and not from neural damage). And as far as I can tell, I haven't heard about things like that. Much like how people hear the same thing, can differ the sound of other people (or itself) from ambient sound, can be taught to speak and use the vocal cords finely etc. (not the ability of language, but how to use the vocal cords).

If it is genetically involved, then a mutation could change things one generation down, and then for all future generations.

Take a look at something blue. We know its blue because everyone says its blue, But does blue look the same to everybody? Theres no way to tell what other people see until we can mind read.

http://www.ted.com/talks/miguel_nicolelis_brain_to_brain_communication_has_arrived_how_we_did_it

We can mind read.

As for if our eyes can see the same thing. I KNOW my left eye tints the world more red than my right eye (which tints more blue). This is not being colour blind, this is simply small differences between the stuctures of the eyes having an effect in the output. Normally, differences aren't noticed until they deviate STRONGLY from the norm, but to say people who aren't colourblind all fall on the norm would be incorrect.
