i dont have any account on the file sharing sites like dropbox, are they nessissary? if so, can someone explain how to use them?

when i try to start up the game, it gets about a 1/3 through and when it tries to load squad/Spaces/landerCabinInternals/model007 it crashes. it ALWAYS crashes at exactly this point.

i run it on windows, and it has crashed at random points (mostly when i first started paying it, the crashes stoped after running it a couple times)

the last time i played it was last night, it crashed as i tried to use the 'skipper' mainsail rocket for the first time ( i had just unlocked it in science mode), the one with 650 thrust. i stoped playing at that point and did not follow it up (it was late).

if I need to add anything to this please tell me.

and please help soon, i just started to get into this game (spent 20 hours over the past week) and not playing this game right now is killing me. my spring break ends in 2 days, help ;-;

If it is possible, please also provide a link to your output_log as well as the error log (which will both be found in the folder that the game generates) . This will provide us with more information pertaining to the problems that you are running into. If you don't want to make an account you could use a site such as Pastebin and then post a link to the file in order for us to view it.

After looking at your files I think the solution lies in where the KSP directory currently is, since there is an Access Violation in your error.log. The best way that I think that you can fix the problem is to copy and paste not move the entire KSP directory to a place where it has more read-write permissions. One good place is C:/Games. Please tell me if this works since there are many other people out there having similar problems, and I can suggest another route if changing the location of the folder does not work.

All the best.

Well, this one is a steam install, which generally does okay with installing itself to the default locations. However, SpaceExplorer is right in that several people have been reporting similar problems.

Additionally, your log files have several graphics errors in them. Please make sure your graphics drivers and direct X are up to date. That will probably solve some other issues you might encounter, though it might also fix some problems here.

To answer your other question, this forum is maintained by users (like yourself). The staff rarely visits in here, if ever. (To clarify, by "here" I mean in the support section.)

Welcome to the forums! :D

  • 3 weeks later...

all my stuff is up to date, when i try to play through steam it crashes still. i tried space explorers suggestion and copied everything to a C:/Games folder, the game was able to start, but then i ran into a entirely different problem. i got the game to run, but the game was not able to load any ships or parts. i checked the parts folder of KSP, it was completely empty. i thought that there was a problem with copying all the files over from the steam files. i looked in the Parts folder of Steam KSP, and it was completely empty too! i don't even know how, or how i was able to play the game previously. ether way thank you for your help (and sorry for the late reply)

*as a side note, i just started a new quarter in school, so I've been busy for the past 2ish weeks. that's why its taken me so long to reply.*

All the parts are in a folder called GameData/Squad. They are not in the first Parts folder that you see. (They used to be there, but moved locations a long time ago.)

It's possible you started a career game, where nearly all parts are unavailable. If possible, posting the output_log.txt file from the KSPdata folder would help us figure out what else is going on.

No worries about your reply time. Good luch in school. :D

Looks like you are now running out of memory right at the main menu. This can usually be fixed by changing your texture quality. Edit the settings.cfg fileiin the root KSP folder using a plain text editor (like notepad). Search for "TEXTURE_QUALITY" and make it say TEXTURE_QUALITY = 1 (or even 2 or 3).

See if that helps.
