Linux Freezing

Recommended Posts

Ok seeing as KSP is staying in the stone age with 32x windows I have moved to linux for 64x bit gameplay for my modding needs as vanilla KSP is well dull.

Without even adding mods yet the whole computer freezes. Sometimes I can play a hour other times 2 or 3 minutes.

Data on my PC

You might want to update your nvidia drivers. This doesn't seem to be the problem though, as your pc looks in good shape to run KSP.

Could you post the logs from the game? This are normally located at .steam/SteamApps/common/Kerbal...

Is the whole machine freezing or is it just your desktop environment ?

Check you system logs, usually in /var/log

My slackware system writes to /var/log/messages every twenty minutes, if your mint system does the same leave it running for half an hour next time it freezes then check the logs after a reboot.

Personally I find these lines from your log more than a little concerning. Are those temps & frequencies what it puts out under full load, or is that what it's idling at?

You might want to update your nvidia drivers.

I'd second that.

NVidia driver is version 346.47 now.

Also your cpu temperature looks high. I use a Shuttle SZ87R6 which is not known for high performance cooling and it idles at 30C, starting up KSP Interstellar barely gets it to 50 C.
