I can only put KAS parts into KAS containers

Hiya, does anyone know what I is wrong (and how to fix it)because when I open up a KAS container in the VAB/SPH I only get the option to place KAS parts in the container, and not even all of them! I've tested this in sandbox and science mode and no difference in either

This sounds like an install issue. A pic of your GameData folder would be helpful.

Also, not all of the KAS parts are storable. The winches I know aren't. There maybe others.

To make other, non KAS parts storable you'll need Module Manager. Normally KAS comes with a relatively new version of Module Manager. If you did not install ityou should do so.
