Telescope under construction in Hawaii

The 'Thirty Meter Telescope' under construction on Mauna Kea has been the site of protests, and that has led to a halt of construction work.

Seems like they were awfully quick in deciding it should go on Mauna Kea. Apparently they glazed over a few of the normal procedures for site selection and sort of butted out the opinion of the natives.

When i think that its not a huge problem to destroy and rebuild whole villages because they were build on coal a "sacred" mountain shouldnt be a problem...
