Software for mapping/records of Cemtery?

Hi guys, I have been the record keeper for the local cemetery for quite some time and I am hoping to help bring the cemetery into the 21st century and get everything into a digital format. What I kinda had in mind is some type of GIS software where I can see the layout of the plots/graves and be able to click on them and see who is buried there (birth/death date, who it is deeded to, etc.). I was hoping to be able to have this tied into the cloud somehow also, so when I go and meet with a family out at the cemetery I can just bring my iPad along with me and view what's available for purchase right then and there. I had been looking into just using Numbers and just using the cells in the spreadsheet as plot's but that's my last resort. I'm just looking for someone else's opinion. Maybe someone has a better idea than me! :) Thanks in advance!

*gasp*

You don't need a GIS and you don't need a cloud service. Just KISS ;)

All you need are an image with the basic layout of the cemetery and the data about the people burried in each grave. From that you can compile two new images

a) for the staff an image with all the data about the burried people (because they need to know that)

B) for website visitors an image with marked (colored) unoccupied graves and nothing more.

(not all family members want the name of their deceased beloved put into the public - even if the name can be seen of a grave stone)
