Black soild-rocket booster exhaust/flame

Recommended Posts

I have been having this problem with the rockomax booster-that-i-cant-name. http://cloud-4.steamusercontent.com/ugc/541898206723640099/8EAFCF3EFB4C0A6C1FF05551E6F3622AB6313445/1024x576.resizedimage I had to do some detailed STS-SRB research. I dont know if this is a stock issue or a modded issue but better be safe then sorry. Heres my mods. NOTE: CKAN disables mods and stuff. So most of the mods are inactive. You can tell me if you want clarification of mods that are active and arent. Go ahead. 1024x452.resizedimage

From the picture, I'd say that this is an issue involving either textures or lighting.

It it's mod-related, I'd investigate on anything touching those SRBs, exhaust textures (for example: Smoke Screen and mods based on it) or even textures in general.

I'm not going to be of much more help here, I'm afraid, as I'm not really good in texture stuff :/

Though, if, windows_x_seven, you could list your mods, it might be possible to find a common point and a hint on the cause.

I have exact same problem right now and it appeared after I modded the game.
The boosters are BACC "Thumper".

This is on Linux x64, native binary, opensource radeon driver / mesa 10 / kernel 4.1.
problem does not exist without mods.

I have about 40 mods, those messing with rockets are: Near Future Technologies (all of them), Dr. Jet ChopShop, USI: Warp Drive + Kolonization Systems, Kerbal Aircraft Expansion.

I will report back if I find something.

Update 1: Some pictures done in sandbox mode.

Update 2: Running in stock mode (all mods were quarantined outside of GameData), solved the problem. Means, problem is created by some mod.

Update 3: By adding handfull of listed mods with each step, I have filtered it down to ... KerbPaint, ScanSat or KAX! Investigating further...

Update 4, pre-final:

Its KerbPaint! It seem to apply painting to BACC flame texture ....
I am investigating if I can solve it.

UPDATE 5 - Final:

Yes, its KerbPaint.  To solve this, edit "KerbPaint.cfg" in GameData, find line:

// Engines!

And comment out the below section completely:

//@PART[solidBooster1-1]
//{
//    MODULE
//    {
//    name = ModulePaintable
//    Texture = solidBooster1-1_Paint
//    Shader = EmissiveBumpSpec
//    }
//}

//@PART[solidBooster]
//{
//    MODULE
//   {
//    name = ModulePaintable
//    Texture = solidBooster_Paint
//    Shader = EmissiveBumpSpec
//   }
//}

You will loose ability to paint "BACC" though.
