Crash on loading screen

Recommended Posts

I've seen a bunch of these threads, and have followed the major guides- AV off, not in a Program Files folder, all other programs closed, running as administrator, etc. Any ideas?

Running a Windows Vista DuoCore 2.1, 4gb RAM, 32bit. I realize I'm at the mins- this is a laptop.

Output Log- https://www.dropbox.com/s/z150jbjgnlykgkd/output_log.txt?dl=0

Thank you!

It is most likely that you've run out of memory, since older Windows OSes such as Vista and 7 can consume up to 1 GB of RAM just for the operating system alone. Does your laptop's chipset/CPU/motherboard allow you to upgrade/add more RAM?

Well, if you tried most of the other things, I would say double check your settings.cfg file and set the TEXTURE_QUALITY line to TEXTURE_QUALITY = 3

If that doesn't work for you, I have had luck with loading KSP onto a low end laptop by first culling out some of the parts. I removed about half the parts and loaded the game. Then moved in the other half of the parts and ran it again. I think there's something with the way .NET compiles things the first time you run it.

Also, try to make absolutely certain that you have as many as possible of the background process and programs closed. If you want to get fancy, do some googling on how to use MSCONFIG to modify the programs that are allowed to run during system startup. (Generally speaking, leave all the Microsoft ones running, and anything essential for your computer such as video drivers.)

Welcome to the forums! :D

Cheers,

~Claw
