Orbit Contracts

Recommended Posts

Hey there!

I just got a contract from Steadler Engineering in vanilla KSP for a probe to be placed into orbit, and they want an orbit at with an AP of 4,191,215m and a PE of 2,306,555m

Do those numbers need to be EXACT, and if not, what is the latency?

Thanks!

No, they don't need to be exact. The contract itself even says "within a reasonable deviation". I think the margin is on the order of 5% or so (though I may well be wrong on that) which would be about 200km on the AP and 100km on the PE.

I have another question: Can I terminate the probes after the contract has been fulfilled?

You can terminate it if you want to, it only has to stay there for a few seconds to complete the contract.

I usually keep mine in orbit though, you might be able to re-use it to complete another contract if you have enough fuel onboard. If you don't want to keep them there you could de-orbit them and claim the cash back for recovery (if you fit a parachute).
