"Warp here" doesn't reduce timewarp

Recommended Posts

Hi, dunno if I got this feature wrong, but:

if I click on my orbit I can create a maneuver or warp to that point. I am in Mun orbit, click "warp here" near my pe. time warp starts going up and reduces again (because of altitude), but doesn't go back to 1x when "time warp complete" message is displayed. I just fly thru with 100x.

edit:

just checked with making a maneuver and "warp to next maneuver node" and I also fly thru at 100x.

btw, I'm playing sandbox mode

Which information should your support request have?

KSP version including Windows, Mac, or Linux, 32 or 64-bit, and if it's Steam

Kerbal Space Program - 1.0.0.830 (WindowsPlayer)

Store download

OS: Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (6.1.7601) 64bit

CPU: AMD Phenom 8400 Triple-Core Processor (3)

RAM: 4096

GPU: AMD RADEON HD 6450 (1012MB)

SM: 30 (Direct3D 9.0c [aticfx32.dll 8.17.10.1333])

RT Formats: ARGB32, Depth, ARGBHalf, RGB565, ARGB4444, ARGB1555, Default, DefaultHDR, ARGBFloat, RGFloat, RGHalf, RFloat, RHalf, R8

A detailed explanation of what happened and what you were trying to accomplish

see above

If other information is needed, please specify. first of all, did I do/expect something wrong? Is this feature only supposed to work when special crew is aboard or something. thought I was on the save side since I was in sandbox mode. If this feature is restricted, it should either not show up at all or with a warning stating what I need to use this feature.

I can confirm this. I have encountered this yesterday twice.

It happened when I was trying to warp to my periapsis which was just above the Kerbin atmosphere but my Apoapsis was still verry high (close to the edge of Kebal SOI).

Now I asume the cause for this might be the very high speed of my craft when nearing the "warp here" point (near Periapsis) so the game didn't manage to slow down the time warp in time. In my case first time the time wapr stayed at 100 and second time it stayed at 10.

Worakound for this was placing the "warp here" sooner on the orbit where the craft didn't have so much speed.

I'll try to do some more testing on this today to see if my teory is corect or not. I din't have enough time to do this yesterday.

  • 2 weeks later...

Scott Manley shows this happening in his latest Tutorial video at the 6 minute mark: https://youtu.be/cEx7klK7S0g?t=6m

My search turned up two threads with this problem - the other is newer and has more activity in it - this one was reported earlier and thus is the original? Anyway - perhaps they need to be merged.
