Valentina's First Flight

Against my better judgement, I allowed Valentina her first fiery sub-orbital flight. Even with her heatshield doing its thing, ablating away (50% by splashdown), she sat there in the capsule smiling and giggling and laughing away, bouncing around all over the place like a schoolgirl. She even earned some science points.

I had a somewhat dissimilar experience- I used Valentina right away because it's a new game and she's the new character, but my first real orbit attempt flight she, well.... let's just say now i only have the original 3... Those new aerodynamics tricked me!

Not quite her first flight...

But I killed Val within DAYS of ingame time. On accident, of course. It was my first Mun mission of that career save. I really screwed that one up. Fiery death... ouch. But I gave her a flag memorial at the beginning of the runway, and a probe in Munar Orbit. As well as the first flag on the Mun being called "For VAL!!!"

Gees guys... poor Val.

I must say, my Val is unusual (??)... maybe just a quirk? Most of the Kerbals make faces ranging from null to happy to even scared/worried at some point or another during a ride ... but not Val - she just sat there happy as could be.

After Jeb screwed up the first manned orbital flight, Val flew the backup ship and successfully returned.

That's on purpose. She has the same bad@ss tag as Jeb in the code, so like Jeb never loses her cool.

I stranded my Valentina on Mun.

Twice.

Both times she planted a flag with following captions:

1) "First! Suck moondust, Jeb. ~Val"

2) "Out of fuel. Again. #FML"

If I get her stranded again, the next flag will read as:

3) "Maiden in need of saving."

My val's first flight was sub orbital. Broke at least 20 records on the way. Her second flight she got to terrorize some poor tourist who thought she was just going to have a short sub-orbital flight but went orbital.

I guess some girls just want to watch the world burn (around them during re-entry).
