does the new thermal mechanic make trips to moho impossible?

i think there definately needs to be some cooling part, cuz the new mechanic makes nuclear engines overheat and the sun heat you even further, so wouldnt it get to a point where the 3km/s slowing burn needed for moho insertion is impossible?

Why don't you try it? If I did it I would bring along some large fuel tanks to soak up the LV-N heat and some larger wings (three or four per engine) to help cool it down. I might also use fewer engines to keep the heat buildup down.

Use a skipper and very large drop tanks, they are a better alternative to the nuke in it's current melted state.
