Screen going blank, showing only stars

I did an EVA on one of my crew members, and he fell down, the game froze for a second, and then the screen turned into the stars in the sky. Upon return to space centre, I found that the screen was still stars, only with the flight icon in the bottom left of the screen. I tried creating another game, but this still showed stars. Any ideas how to fix this?

I've had this before and only solved it by fully restarting the game. My 'crash' occurred in similar situations except I was picking up a kerbal from the mun for a mission and it went all starry when I flew him over to the lander.

That happens to me to, except I am a windows user and it happens more around Ike.
