Request for a Mission Control Only Game mode

I would like it if Squad would make this stock but they haven't...

I'm requesting a mod that would disable the science tree but still give you access to Mission Control so you can do missions with a completed tech tree. Understanding I can do this by giving myself X amount of science to complete the tree and continue but that's a pain for me to have to do this every time...

Any takers?

I don't get this. You gift yourself 100,000 science via the SFS fie and then spend it all to unlock the tree. Boom. Done? What gets reverted every time?

Everytime I create a new save for whatever reason I have to go in and edit the save to give myself points- then SPEND THEM on EVERY tier of the tree.

Throw me a bone please?

What I'd do for that is make a new save, do the science & unlock stuff, then make a copy of that persistence file Which I would then drop copies of into whatever new saves i wanted to create.

Doesn't always work... especially per update :/ .

Updates have rarely broken save files, and when they do we get extensive announcements and warnings from the devs. Copy-pasting save files shouldn't be that difficult to do.

Still, it might be nice to get an option for the tech nodes you get on starting the game. Some sort of [All / None / Custom] selector for pre-completed science could be very convenient.

Ah, well I didn't consider you creating a whole new save often enough for this to be an issue.

Well fine if you're looking for a permanent solution across saves then you gift yourself the science, go and unlock all the nodes, then just save a copy of the entire SCENARIO node for ResearchAndDevelopment. Boom. Done.

In older versions of the game, since you had to purchase individual parts, this wouldn't work as well without an exact listing of all the parts you've also unlocked. but now you just need to unlock the node, so even if you had different parts as long as these lines are there

}

All parts for that node will be unlocked. So when you create a new save just copy your complete unlocked SCENARIO node over the new one in the SFS file.

This request seems a variant of the more-common "I want contracts in Sandbox mode/Science mode".

The only thing Squad could do to appease everyone at once is make a "Custom" mode:

[x] Gather science

[x] Start with full tech tree (but you can still do science experiments)

[x] Gather money

[x] Unlimited funds (but you can still gather money)

[x] Start with unlocked buildings

[x] Start with max XP Kerbals

[x] Do contracts

This would be really difficult to test every variation, though.

At some point Squad has to say "we can't please everyone, these 3 options cover 99% of what people want", especially since there is a workaround for the few that want something custom - edit the persistent.sfs file (or use this mod) and then click 20 times.
