what do you mean effects? like sound, a loud bang of some sort?

In theory I'd like this. It would need to be really nicely implemented though, it could end up being a rather buggy sound effect. ie what happens if you're flying just around the threshold for it, that may result in the sound constantly being played which would be rather unpleasant.

I've actually had a plane stuck in the moment of going transonic ( under FAR, because it had just enough thrust set to get to that point ) - it was flying around with a visible shock cone for over an hour, I hate to think what canned booms would have done at that point

Would make for a nice effect, perhaps to avoid the bugginess it would be triggered only if you have a certain acceleration across the sound barrier?
