I just burnt prograde anti Kerbin and waited for escape.

Then why does the apogee say 4,700,000 aprox?

What is so weird? Your ship moves too fast to enter proper orbit around the Mun, but satellite is still curving its trajectory - effectively giving your ship a gravity assist.

Now if only we can reproduce this...

It is reproductible. Quite easily i might add I regularly use Mun slingshots to give my interplanetary ships couple hundreds of dV extra. Of course it depends if Mun is in right position in its orbit for my needs. If anyone is interested in slingshot maneuvers, i'm sure there is some tutorials on YouTube.
