Changing FOV/Focal Length

Not sure if it's a new update or I've just not known about it, but I found out today that you can hold alt when using the numpad + or - buttons to change the FOV while in flight. Really nice for getting that space photo feeling!

Thanks Squad! Something I've always felt the game needed (though wish it could be a bit easier to access/part of the settings menu?)

Interesting. Once changed, is there any command to snap back to default?

Not as far as I know. I found this feature by accident and then after playing around with it I wasn't sure what was normal. So I had to restart KSP.

Maybe i'm missing something here... but isn't that exactly the same thing you could always do with the mouse wheel?

mouse wheel on it's own does the zoom that it's always done, mouse wheel + alt changes the FOV.

Not that I know of. Maybe switching to KSC and back would do it, but in flight, no.

Not really. That is more changing the location of the camera (moving it closer/further away). This changes the zoom level so it stays in the same place, but zooms in/out, like so:

See how it's a slightly different scale than you'd imagine? That's because it's zoomed out.

Yeah, I somehow missed that 'hold alt' thing. That's a cool feature.

I'd love to see that feature work in IVA. Could do quite a bit to improve your situational awareness.

It is more directly related to the widening of a camera's aperture... kind of. Imagine taking a picture, including more "image" on every border, then scaling everything so it stays more or less the same size.

Wow, I'm confusing. Picture may help. Imagine this:

but with space stuff.
