Fuel Flow Manager -- The Solution to Drop Tanks in 1.1+

Recommended Posts

So with 1.0, jets take fuel from all tanks at once on the stage, while rockets drain them in the standard flow pattern of farthest tank first.

Why not a feature in the editor that lets you modify the order of tanks that are draned for an engine, or group of engines?

Default fuel rules would be in place until you activated the feature, and there would be a button to return the routing to default.

Yes that, and the whole klunky system of fuel transfers should be overhauled. Fuel gauges on tanks should be active sliders that you drag to transfer fuel to/from other selected tanks instead of having these excruciatingly slow and difficult-to-control on-off buttons.

I'd be in for priority tank systems. I use Goodspeed Fuel Pump whenever I can for that reason (it's effectively a fuel priority system that gets saved with your vessel. I don't know why people use TAC_FB).

I'm okay(ish) with the existing system (mostly.. I wouldn't complain if it got better though), except for the issue that you can't transfer LF and O in a balanced fashion unless you're completely filling something (or completely emptying something). Filling a small LF/O tank from a large one halfway in stock is a PITA... gotta use little sub-tanks to ensure that the 9:11 ratio is maintained etc.
