Vehicle Assembly Building Lag Removal

Whenever I go to the vehicle assembly building or the spaceplane hanger, the Kerbals walking around on the ground cause the game to lag terribly. If I shift the camera so that the floor isn't visible, it lags less but it's no longer possible to build anything. Is there a mod that removes the Kerbals on the floor of the vehicle assembly building and spaceplane hangar?

Main Menu -> Settings -> uncheck "Show Space Center Crew"

Turn off the Show Space Center Crew setting on the main settings menu.
