Mars Terraforming Thread

Mars needs a core kickstart to be terraformed... :P

Mars needs to be move to another star system where it can orbit at approximately the same radiation levels as earth. Mass increased and a tone of asteroids slammed into it surface.

Said it before, will say it again. An atmosphere would block out almost all of the radiation at the Martian surface.

100% true. Here's a quick little thought:

We receive an amount of radiation on Earth's surface. The ISS recieves much more in LEO. Both are within the magnetosphere. So the only thing causing the distinct lack of radiation on the surface, compared to the ISS, is....

The atmosphere.

The magnetosphere mainly captures radiation. Then you have to go through the rad belts on your way in/out. That's a hassle.
