Has anybody managed to make Dynasoar/x-37-like spacecraft in 1.0?

I keep trying, but without fairings, my rocket always flip after launch, even if i lower the center of lift behind the CoM

I have been messing with something inspired by the Dynasaur too. It was impossible to launch though unless the spaceplane was wrapped up in a shield. All the lifting surfaces were playing havoc.

With a shield though it got up there fine. Loads of dV left and flying it back to the surface I found it actually flies incredibly well.

I want to try a Dreamchaser soon, but I don't know how to disable the control surfaces on the plane for the launch. Gotta play around with it in FAR.

Some you can just by right clicking on them in the VAB or during flight. Lift though from MK2 bodies and wings you are stuck with and it's those that make lifting a spaceplane difficult.
