Anybody know about the old Mercury days? This sketch inspired the line from Alan Shepard\'s Freedom 7 Launch, 'You\'re on your way, Jose!'

More than that, it resulted in Bill Dana getting adopted as something of a mascot for the astronauts through the end of the Apollo program, and basically ending up being one of the most space-knowledgeable comedians out there, since they pretty much gave him full access as their guest. Why? Because in many ways, they felt that that routine 'told it like it is'...
