Ibelieve MechJeb will be able to give you the features you're looking for. It's basically an auto-pilot, afaik (never used it myself: but to each their own!)

MJ does not work outside of physics range, in space those 20km are really not a lot.

I made it to Jool! Thanks everyone, I'll post any results here that I find (e.g. combinations of Rhinos and Poodles, optimum amount of extra fuel in the payload other than the 3.75m tank, whether it is possible to refuel at Jool using a "disposable" probe and reach Eeloo or mod-created outer planets e.g. Sarvin, and so forth).
