Being able to fill Command Seats with Kerbals from VAB/SPH

This has been minor yet very frustrating, especially for me who often builds tiny ships which have Kerbals in Command Seats.

Not to sound too demanding, but I'll be honest; Many possibilities have been obsolete (or hard to do) just because of the lack of this feature - Ejector Seats, Muscle Cars, and especially aircraft with a lot of seats as Kerbal "Holding places".

For me, it is truly inconvenient - Placing a command pod just to get on a plane or rocket can really cause frustrations for some. I only really wanted this ever since the start - I know this is already in a mod, but it is a bit unfair for some others who play stock, or do not know what mods even are. It just takes a small code change.

As much as possible, please consider this in a future update, Squad.

The reason it doesn't currently work is because seats work in a manner closer to docking than to command pods. There's a mod that allows for this, and Maxmaps has stated that they intend on making this work stock at some point, but no announced ETA at this time.

In all curiosity, where did Maxmaps say this? I'm curious to know

It was in one of the post-1.0 squadcasts, if I remember correctly, or maybe one of the ones in the weeks immediately preceding the release. Also possible that it was the cast office party stream. I remember that it was on twitch and it was fairly recent (the bit about them planning on making it work stock, not the bit about what the problem was).

I've noticed in the f3 window that it says "structural failure between x kerman and command seat" if they fall out of their seats. Interesting.

There is a mod for that, that you assign kerbals to external command seats... um its called Take Command and can be found here: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/120740-1-0-2-Take-Command-Launch-Kerbals-in-External-Command-Seats-v1-1-1-May-12-2015

But I just wish that it was in stock though So totally agree
