REQUEST : ISS Truss

Recommended Posts

So I'm working again on my ISS replica adapting it for 1.0.

So far I've redone almost every single module, exept the cupola node, and the whole truss structure.

It just doesn't seem right to use MK3 parts, because I've sent every single module using the Space Shuttle (Yup, working with SRB's) but there's no way I can fit those inside (And they are also a bit off since the real truss is much smaller in diamter compared to the station).

I can't figure out anther way to make them (2.5m parts are "too" round since the real truss shape is more of a halved octagon)-

The solar arrays are already finished, it's just the truss itself where the problem lies. Maybe someone with enough creativity can help me out.

Thanks!

You should also take a look at rover bodies, two of them back to back will have a kind of octagonal section, and stuff with them tends to look cool. That, or go with four parallel stock trusses, that'll look the part if you fill the corners with wings.

Edit: Actually, I have my game open, something like this seems to look the part. With long trusses, that would be 8 parts/section, not counting docking ports and useful stuff:

Rune. As long as you are throwing part count control out the window.

Why not something like this ? :)

(this quick & dirty version weights around 2 tons, 14 parts - just a proof of concept :) - dimensions : 1.2m high, 2.3m wide, 7.8m long.)

This is exactly what I wanted! I can even fit two inside the same payload bay!

Thanks everyone for the replies, I really apreciate it!
