What happened to Valentina Kerman?!

Hello everyone! I did another orbital mission with Bob, and then a suborbital mission with Valentina to complete some contracts. However, I have a little problem.. I landed on Kerbin near KSC, safe and sound. Then I wanted Valentina to do an EVA, and I sent her out. I didn't notice that the hatch was against the ground, though.. I recovered the craft, and no Valentina! I do not pick her up on the tracking station, and in the astronaut center it says 'missing in action: Valentina.' How do I get her back? Is she gone? Thanks.

'Missing in action' means she's dead. She might respawn.

She tried to crawl out from under the capsule and got squished... the doctors should have her back up and running in a few weeks (assuming you have the "Missing Crews Respawn" option checked).

Technically, she couldn't get squished, because when she opened the hatch it would just be ground, haha. ;D Too bad though, and thankfully I do have that checked, so I suppose I wait. Thanks guys!

I'm not sure if this was your issue, but make sure there aren't any kerbals on craft that you recover. When you recover the craft, the kerbal will end up MIA, instead of recovering with the craft (because, technically, the kerbal at that point isn't part of the same vessel).
