Do the key bindings on the wiki bear any relation to the actual 1.0.2 controls?

Recommended Posts

OK, I'm trying to use the docking controls listed on the wiki key bindings page.

http://wiki.kerbalspaceprogram.com/wiki/Key_bindings

I go into docking mode and press space to switch between translation and rotation. It makes no difference whatsoever to the behavior of the controls, and it activates the staging sequence, jettisoning my main engine.

This is annoying.

Therefore it should be relatively up-to-date. However things do change from version to version and the wiki is not always reliable.

The only really reliable source of keybindings is your own game. Just go into the settings menu and see what does what.

Forget about the docking mode. Recently I really tried to make some use of it but it turns out it's useless indeed.

For docking I just stay in staging mode and use RCS + the usual keys for rotation and translation. On top of that I installed Docking Port Alignment Indicator. Not to make things easier, but to make 'em more awesome! :)

I had the same problem, and experimentation revealed that I, K,J, L, H & N were already mapped for linear movement as standard.

And I only crashed my ship and station 4 times working it out.

I've been playing KSP since v0.17 late 2012 and I am not ashamed to confess I've NEVER used docking mode. If that's not enough evidence of the docking mode uselessness I don't know what is.

I had the same problem. (I fixed it accidentally while investigating how best to reconfigure the key bindings for the Dvorak keyboard layout.)

The solution is to delete* your settings.cfg file and restart the game.

Keybindings are stored in the settings.cfg file. A 'Completely revised Input Mapping system' was implemented as of v1.0.0. I bought the game long prior to that release, and I suspect that my settings.cfg file was not correctly reset by the upgrade. This may also affect other players too...

* edit: or rename to something else, for a backup copy of what you had. Just In Case.

Yes, this and the suggestion to look at the key bindings in settings helped.
