Help! Stages are released piece-wise, each element of a stage on separate press of space!

Recommended Posts

What the heck did I turn on?

If I'm to drop two spent thrusters, all belonging to one stage, I have to hit space three times: one to "enter" the stage (nothing happens), then one to drop one thruster, one to drop the other thruster.

And obviously my rocket veers wildly under the asymmetric load between the two (I can't just tap space twice, fast - I must wait a second or two between them).

How do I switch this weird mode off?

They are in the same stage!

The engines (stage 13) don't follow that pattern, they all start at once. But then when I want to drop the spent tanks of stage 12 I need to press space three times. First does nothing, and then the consecutive two drop one engine each. The same with every consecutive stage - in stage 7 it's four presses.

Why on earth did you call that mostrosity miniprobe Oo

On another note, I have no idea why this would be happening, if it's a bug I haven't heard of it so far. If nobody comes up with a fix for this maybe post it in the stock/modded support forums

The behavior seems so consistent it feels like I activated some kind of debug mode, where you can observe as phases of a stage occur. Thanks for the advice, I'll try that place.

As for the name, this is a miniprobe:

And these are sixteen miniprobes:

That's also the reason for the ridiculous number of stages; I made launch of each miniprobe a stage.

It's easier to just right-click on the decoupler and activate it to launch a stage. Maybe even switch them out for docking ports to prevent a distaster when you accidentally (but so hilariously Kerbalesque) hit the space bar.

ahhh ok xD all I saw was that gigantic launch stage and I was like, ummmm there is nothing mini about this Oo. Have you had this issue on other craft? If so it might very well be a proper bug (or some unknown feature). If not It might just be a .craft related weirdness. I have had very crazy things happen in KSP that were only ship specific.

Happened once, went away all by itself. It happened with the same (monstrous) asparagus base, but that's not uncommon, I use it for launching everything heavy.

Except I want the engine activated at the same time, so that random movement of the mothership won't crash the probe into it. Besides, the space is tight; finding these decouplers in there for rightclicking is a pain. A docking port is not an option, because it would obscure the engine; the decouplers stay with the mothership. And if I hit a space - well, I still have fifteen left ;) The whole idea is to scatter them all over Eve to visit as many biomes as possible.
